Across four decades we’ve followed a simple idea: when you make the right behaviours visible, coachable and repeatable, results move.
What began as behavioural psychology in practice has grown into a performance enablement system that gives leaders visibility, transparency and accountability, creating faster, smarter pathways from everyday.
1988
The beginning
A behavioural psychologist sees a gap: organisations aren’t using what science already knows about how people change. The insight, apply core behavioural principles to everyday work, sets the course.
1989
Sales and service training
A consulting practice is formed, specialising in financial services and other regulated sectors. Needs-based selling lifts the quality of customer conversations and motivates frontline teams to try new behaviours.
2000
Sales leadership and sales training
Training alone doesn’t shift behaviour at scale. Leadership enablement is added so leaders understand the change, coach to it, and embed new ways of working over time.
2010
Behavioural analytics
Clients need proof that behaviour change moves results. Behavioural analytics are introduced to measure conversation quality—between teams and customers, and between leaders and their people.
2014
Transparency and governance
GRIST observes that change programs invariably stall as leaders lose focus on their people and revert to operational tasks. GRIST develops YakTrak, a tactical people development SaaS platform, that tracks the quality and quantity of coaching within an organisation. This provides organisations with transparency and governance to know how leaders are supporting change programs.
2016
Microbehaviours
Driven by a new leadership team GRIST and YakTrak work together to create a consulting and software ecosystem that builds capability and drives change more effectively. The foundation of this system are micro-behaviours, the small incremental improvements that leaders and teams can make every day in the pursuit of performance objectives.
2020
Adapt and survive
COVID arrives, decimating learning and development budgets and making face to face delivery all but impossible. Adversity leads to innovation, GRIST and YakTrak emerge with an increased understanding of how to use virtual and digital delivery to create engaging and effective learning and change programs.
2024
Merge and transform
GRIST and YakTrak unite to form a single, integrated Performance Enablement platform (system?) designed to accelerate people development pathways. Leveraging advances in AI and large language models, GRIST’s proven behavioural IP is transformed into scalable digital solutions—evolving YakTrak from a system that simply tracks leadership cadence into one that actively builds and enhances the capability of leaders and their teams.
2026
One brand, one system
GRIST’s behavioural science and the YakTrak platform come together under YakTrak, giving enterprises a single way to define micro-behaviours, run weekly operating rhythms and close QA loops at scale. With YakTrak-powered AI and clear guardrails (human oversight, audit trails, privacy controls), leaders gain line-of-sight from behaviour to outcomes and a practical way to build capability across teams on demand.
